Fifth Avenue Florals

Hi. This is a card I did a few days ago. I had it looking differently in my head. I’m not really sure I liked the way it came out but I figured I would post it anyway. I did have fun coloring the flowers. The flowers are from the Fifth Avenue Floral set and colored with Copic markers. The leaves are from the retired Central Park set. The paper and large flower are from the Write Stuff DSP.

Anyway, I will be packing up tonight and finishing up some things for my next card class in June. I will be coming back from my trip to NC on Wednesday, then I will be heading to class. That will definitely be a tiring day! I hope everyone has a nice Memorial weekend!

Color Challenge

Hello! Today’s card is from yesterday’s challenge on splitcoast. It was a color challenge to use Real Red, Bermuda Bay and Kraft. The extra challenge was to use ruled paper. I like how this card came out. I would have never used these colors together before but I think they are pretty nice together. Since I have the Flight of Butterfly still on my desk I decided to use that along with the sentiment from Birthday Bliss. Overall, this was pretty easy card to make. The ruled paper is one of the die cuts from the Write Stuff DSP. The kraft scallops on the bottom are 4 1 ¼ circle punches. My inspiration for the layout came from this card. I used the same layout just changed everything else.

That’s it for me today. I’m getting ready to go away for a few days over the holiday weekend. I’m going down to Emerald Isle, NC with a couple of girlfriends. I can’t wait and I hope we have some nice weather!

Post #2! - June Card Class

Here is my second post for today. These are the cards that we will be making in my June card class. I used the Flight of Butterfly set to make some simple summery cards. The yellow butterfly card is copied from one I saw on splitcoast by Sparkegirl. I really liked all the white so I got my inspiration for the rest of the cards from that card. There will also be some kind of box/holder for the cards but I just haven’t figured that out yet. To sign up for the class see the link to the right.

Birthday Card

Today’s card is a birthday card I did for my future mother – in – law. Again, I used the Elements of Style set. I stamped the large flower image in Soft Suede, then I used the square punch to punch out random sections from the image which were layered on Soft Suede cardstock. I then colored the flowers with 3 different shades of yellow copic markers and the leaves in 3 different shades of green. I stamped the flourish in Baja Breeze on Baja Breeze textured cardstock. To finish it off, I added Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, a Creamy Caramel bird and a sentiment from On Your Birthday. I love this color combination together. It’s nice to get back into creating some cards instead of the mass production of invitations, which by the way are basically finished. The picture below shows all 100 invitations packaged up and ready to go. The couple has requested 15 more so I’ll get to those in the next few days but for now, I wanted to get the 100 invites off my shoulders! It’s such a relief to have them finished. Stay tuned for my second post today which shows the cards we will be making in my June card class.

Shabby Sympathy

Today’s card is for yesterday’s challenge on splitcoast. It was the clean and simple challenge to make a card with minimal layers and to give it a shabby chic look. I needed a sympathy card so I pulled out Elements of Style and used that. It is such a pretty set. I stamped the main flower image in Soft Suede on kraft. I then colored in the flowers with copic markers. I can’t say it enough, but these markers are pretty fabulous! Anyway, I colored the flowers in 3 shades of pink and the leaves in 2 shades of green. I added the pink satin ribbon and the With Sympathy sentiment. The sentiment is non SU. Apparently I do not have any SU sympathy sentiments. I’ll have to work on that. I then sponged Creamy Caramel on the edges of the kraft, the white card base, the ribbon and the sentiment circle to give it the shabby chic look. I spent a little time coloring but overall, this was a really quick card.

Petal Pizazz set

Hello! Today’s cards are inspired by Nichole Heady. She had a cute card on her blog that I really liked so I decided to copy that card using Stampin Up stamps. Her card is similar to the yellow one. I decided to use her colors and then add 3 more cards in different colors to make a set. I used Petal Pizazz for the 2 larger flowers and For All You Do for the smaller Soft Suede flower and butterfly. The colors I used were Crushed Curry, Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, Pale Plum, Certainly Celery and Soft Suede. The sentiments on the vellum piece are from the retired Absolutely Fabulous set. I like that these cards were fairly quick and simple to make. Plus they are pretty flat so they are good for mailing. I love how they came out. Now I just need to figure out who to give the set to. Of course I’ll have to package it up nicely too.

First Birthday

Happy Friday! I finally have something not wedding related! It was actually nice to make a card for a different occasion. I still haven't had a chance to make a card just for fun but this was close enough. I needed a card for my friend's daughter's first birthday tomorrow. I decided to combine this with the challenge on splitcoast, which was to distress the edges on the card. I'm not sure I really like how that came out but oh well. She's 1 she won't know the difference, lol! All of the products on this card are non SU. Just the paper is SU. I used pink pirouette (which is coming back...yeah!), kiwi kiss and melon mambo. I thought this was a fun color combination. The pink and green backgrounds are stamped with polka dots. The butterflies are die cut with felt and adhered to magnets. The pink pirouette butterfly is punched from a martha stewart punch and rinestones were added to each one. I attached them to the card with removable glue dots so that they can be hung on the fridge afterwards. I really think this is a cute idea and I'm dying to try it with some other die cuts. Which means I will need to go out and get some more dies. :) I also love the felt as well, so fun!
This weekend looks like it will be pretty low key which is good. I have one step left and i'm pretty much done with the wedding invitations I was working on. So hopefully I can cross that off my list this weekend. Now it will be time to start my own invitations! Have a great weekend!

May Class

Phew, what a week it has been! I will hopefully be able to relax tomorrow night. I've been busy at work and then last night was my card class at the Clinton Recreation department. So today, I'm going to show you the cards we made using the Awash with Flowers set. We made a card purse. I found the tutorial for that on Splitcoast stampers. I just made mine a little larger so the cards wouldn't stick out of the top. Then we made 4 cards to go into the purse. My inspiration for the cards came from various designs/layouts I had seen online. I will probably be using my set as a gift to my mom for mothers day. I'll list more info under each card.

Swap

Happy Monday! I had a busy weekend and I'm definitely tired this morning! Since the only crafting I did this weekend was invitations, I won't have too much to show this week. I should be done with them soon, so I can get back into some regular crafting. I can't wait!! Anyway, this is my swap that I did for the ControlFreaks swap. This was one of the projects that I've been working on during April, along with wedding invitations. I decided to go vintagey with this stamp set. I used Awash with Flowers, the Friendly Words jumbo wheel for the bottom portion of the card and Trendy Trees for the "thanks". Colors are Blush Blossom (for all the flowers), Dusty Durango (which was sponged on some of the flowers), Old Olive and Soft Suede. The edges were sponged with Creamy Caramel. I also used one of the mini vintage tags from the Summer Mini. Have a great day!
