Tour-de-Freaks: Good 'Ol Summertime
Welcome to the July 2010 Blog Tour! If you've just arrived from Cindy Major's blog you've come to the right place! But don't worry, if you have started here, it will be possible to go completely to the end and arrive back here after going to the beginning of the tour!
This month’s theme is “Good ‘Ol Summertime.” I decided to use some bright summery colors for my cards. My first card uses the new Aviary set. I used some paper from the Greenhouse Gala dsp pack for the background. The other patterned piece I stamped myself using Awash with Flowers and the colors Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and Daffodil Delight. The bird cage and birds are all stamped and then cut out. I then added some white grosgrain ribbon and a button. The sentiment is from A Word for You.
My next card isn’t as bright but I like to think of the blue (Marina Mist) paired with green (Pear Pizzazz) as summery. Plus there are always lots of birthdays over the summer so I decided to make a birthday card. I stamped the candle from Party This Way in versamark and embossed it with iridescent ice. The sentiment is from A Word for You. The balloons are stamped in Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight. The inspiration for this card came from page 152 of the catalog. I just loved the little owl (Aviary) that was sitting on top of the card so I really wanted to use him on my card. I don’t know if he really fits but I just thought he was so cute. I decided to have him peeking out on the top and then added 2 more owls. Obviously this is a birthday card more for a kid. I think next time though I would do something else with the strings from the balloons. They just seem out of place. Oh well, too late now!
I hope you are enjoying the blog tour. Next up is Melanie Schulenberg, with more great projects!

Aviary and In Colors
Hi! My card today uses the new Aviary and A Word for You set. I think these birds are so cute. However, I had a hard time figuring out what to do. I think my mojo has been lacking this past week or so. I have all these new things to play with and I just can’t figure out what to do. I actually did several cards before this one that were just eh! Maybe I’ll post them once I take pictures of them. I felt they weren’t even worthy enough to have their picture taken, lol! Anyway, the birds were stamped in all new colors, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzazz ( I didn’t realize that I used all colors that began with “P”). The bird cage and sentiment from A Word for You are stamped in Early Espresso. The swirls on the bottom are from Elements of Style. That’s it for today. I hope to be back with another card this week. If not be sure to stop back on Tuesday July 20th for another ControlFreaks blog tour! There will be lots of fun summery projects!!

Party This Way
Hi! Today’s card if for yesterday’s color challenge on Splitcoast. It was to use Wild Wasabi, Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mist. I really like these colors together. I got my new goodies yesterday so I decided to use Party This Way. I thought this was a cute birthday set. I stamped the Party This Way sentiment randomly over Wild Wasabi cardstock. I then sponged the edges with Wild Wasabi. I also added some faux stitching along the edges with a white gel pen. I added the Happy Birthday strip along the bottom in Cherry Cobbler. Then I stamped 3 candles in Marina Mist. I colored the flame in so saffron and added some dazzling diamonds. The only thing non SU is the nestability label under the candles. I hope you enjoy! I hope to be back tomorrow or some time this week with more new stuff!

Big Bold Birthday
Hello! Today’s card is a card I did for my cousin’s daughter's 1st birthday this weekend. I got some wrapping paper , a bag and tissue paper at target so the inspiration for this card came from that. It doesn't look like it in the pictures but the colors do match up fairly well. I used a couple of non SU products on this card (the nestabilities, the ribbon, the polka dot stamps and the sentiment on the tag). The polka dots in the background are Rich Razzleberry stamped on Pink Pirouette cardstock. Then I stamped Pink Pirouette polka dots on the shimmery white rectangle. The cupcake is from Big Bold Birthday and the icing is pink pirouette with a melon mambo flower and the bottom is rich razzleberry. I also made a tag to coordinate with the card. It uses the same elements as the card. Below is a picture of the wrapping paper and tissue paper that I took the colors from. Today I get my order from Stampin Up with lots of new goodies. I can’t wait to play with them tonight! Have a good day!

Watercolor Trio
Wow it’s been a while. Last weekend for 4th of July we had a BBQ at our place so the days before it were busy cleaning and cooking. Then we spent the day on Monday tubing down the Delaware river. Ahh it was so nice and relaxing. And with this heat we’ve been having it was refreshing too. Anyway, I finally got around to making a card yesterday. Unfortunately I had to make a sympathy card for a friend of mine who just lost her brother. I used the challenge on splitcoast which was to use yellow. I used barely banana to make a soft looking card. I stamped the images from Watercolor Trio in craft white onto Crumb Cake cardstock. The butterflies were stamped in Barely Banana and cut out. I added some white taffeta ribbon and a sentiment. Next week I am getting some new stuff from the catalog. I can’t wait!! And this weekend I HAVE to get started on my wedding invitations. I’m not giving myself a whole lot of time to get them done. I at least want to get a decent start this weekend so I can play with some of my new things next week. :) Have a good weekend!
