Eclectic Christmas

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Today I am sharing an out of the box Christmas card. I made this card while I was working on my Artisan post at the beginning of this month. I was having so much fun with the Carols of Christmas set and I decided I wanted to do something different with it. As I was going through all my DSP to see what I could use, I decided I wanted to use some of the patterns from Naturally Eclectic. I did use one of the patterns on a card in this post. But I really love the paper used on today's card the best and thought why not use it for a christmas card. I used it for the background and then took colors from that paper for the rest of the card. I stamped and embossed the sentiment on Berry Burst cardstock and die cut it with the Layering circles framelits to make it look like an ornament. I also used one of the dies from the bundle to get the stars on the bottom of the ornament. The top of the ornament is Night of Navy cardstock punched with the Pretty Label punch. I stamped some ornaments in Peekaboo Peach and some stars from the set in Pool Party. I finished off the card with some Lemon Lime Twist ombre ribbon. Isn't this a fun take on a holiday card!

I challenge you to make an out of the box Christmas card with some non-traditional DSP.

Have a great day!!

Colorful Seasons: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog hop. There are 20 of us from around the world so be sure to follow along to see everyone's projects. You should have just come from Holly's blog

This month we are focusing on the Color Theory Product Suite. There are a ton of great products in this suite. I have used a few of the images/sentiments for my projects this month.

Let's get started.

My first card is simple serene card. I used the branch and flower images from the set. I stamped all of the flowers in Powder Pink and the little stems were stamped in Sweet Sugarplum (it's hard to see that in the photo). I die cut these flowers with the coordinating thinlits. I also cut flowers out of vellum to layer on top of the stamped flowers. It just softens the flowers a bit. The base layer of the card is one of the sheets from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stacks. (Say that 5 times fast, haha!). I finished off the card with some pearls.

My next card is almost the complete opposite of the first card. It's a little wild and crazy. I decided to try something different with the embossing paste.

I smeared a bunch of paste on top of the Pool Party cardstock (as shown in the photo on the left). I waited for it to dry a bit. Then with my aqua painter, I dipped it in the ink of my choosing and added lots of splatters to the embossing paste. In the end you come out with a funky piece of artwork!

To not take away from that, I kept the rest of the card simple. I added one of the great sentiments from the set, the lovely Adirondack chair from the thinlits and some ribbon and rhinestones.

Now let's get to the fun stuff!! All of the great projects you can make with this set.

So right now I do not have any holiday DSP or holiday embellishments but don't let that stop you from getting a head start on holiday cards. There are so many great DSP options available in our other packs plus lots of ribbons in the annual catalog that you can find something to use for your holiday cards. I have 4 cards today that showcase your everyday DSP as holiday DSP.

First up, I'll show you the cards you can make with the Coffee Break DSP.

To me this paper screams Christmas. I thought this was perfect for this set. The rest of the card is fairly simple, which is good for holiday cards. I stamped the sentiment on vellum cardstock. Then I stamped 2 poinsettias, a few leaves and cut them out. (I used the die cuts for the leaves). The final touch was some mini sequin trim and a linen thread bow.

Here is my second Coffee Break DSP card. I used the Soft Sky chevron piece. I love using Soft Sky for holiday cards. The striped piece on the left is the Diagonal stamp which I stamped in versamark and embossed with copper embossing powder. The sentiment is stamped onto a Stitched Shape square (which work great with these sentiments). Then I stamped and die cut a few leaves for the corners and added some red enamel shapes. Again, another fairly simple card. You could leave out the embossing with the diagonal stamp to make it even quicker.

The next DSP I used was the Naturally Eclectic DSP. Doesn't this paper look just like falling snow? I really love this DSP for these christmas cards. (Stay tuned for a non traditional card with this DSP). This was my favorite card of the bunch. The DSP was die cut with one of the dies from the framelits which gives the look of the moon and stars at the top. Then I made a scene with the trees and deer. I can see myself making this card a lot. For the sentiment, I used washi tape to cover the parts I didn't want and just stamped "Peace" in Real Red ink. I finished it off with some metallic enamel stars.

And finally I used the Foil Frenzy DSP. I love this DSP and I love it even more that I can use it for Christmas cards. I used 2 of the designs from the pack. I stamped the sentiment onto a white circle, then I stamped "the" onto Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and punched it out to give the sentiment a little extra dimension. To finish off the card, I added a Soft Sky bow and some Iridescent sequins. (Zoom in to see the sequins).

I hope this inspires you to get started with your holiday cards using what you may have already bought from the annual catalog. Then I hope it gives you ideas that you can use again once the new Holiday catalog is out. I can't wait to see what's in store.
