Sweet and Cool Birthday Cards: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog hop. There are 20 of us from around the world so be sure to follow along to see everyone's projects. You should have just come from Holly's blog. Awesome projects as usual!

This month we are focusing on the Cool Treats Suite. This bundle is perfect for summer and even better it's not retiring, so you'll be able to use it all summer long!

My first project mostly focuses on the awesome specialty paper. I used 2 of the fun designs for the background. I stamped the sentiment on Crumb Cake and punched the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I added some doilies under each one. The super cute strawberries were stamped and then hand cut. I added some Basic Black baker's twine and some enamel shapes. Love those shapes!!

My other card is a little more time consuming. The background was done by stamping the word "Cool" in Lemon Lime Twist first and then I just touched it gently on the Bermuda Bay ink pad to give it a two-toned look. The rows of spoons were stamped with Bermuda Bay ink.

I did the ice cream in Very Vanilla with Early Espresso fudge on top!! Yum! I coated the "fudge" pieces with the Fine Tip Glue pen to make it shiny and while it was wet, went crazy with the Sprinkles embellishments.

I then added the Calypso Coral ombre ribbon, a wood heart shape and a Shrinky Dink popsicle! If you notice attached to the ribbon is an itty bitty popsicle. I used paints to paint the popsicle stamp onto Shrinky Dinks. Then I die cut it with the coordinating die, punched a hole in the top, heated it with my heat gun and let the Shrinky Dinks do their work. How cute is that?!?!

I hope you enjoyed these fun summer cards and make some for your summer birthdays!

Garden Workbench and Card - Craft Project Central

There is a new tutorial over at Craft Project Central. This is designed by Sandy Mott.

If you love gardening, or have a friend/relative who gardens, they would love receiving this adorable workbench and matching card. The workbench features potted plants and flowers, complete with gardening tools, gloves, and mud boots. The card matches the workbench, and as all gardeners know, a gift from the garden is a work of HEART. This project fits the bill. The workbench is a cinch to put together. The pots, plants, and tools are all hand cut, but oh so worth the effort!

Have a great night!

Mother's Day Cards

Late night here and a quick post for you! I had wanted to get this post up earlier today but you know things like the kids got in the way. :) I put together these two cards for mother's day. I was itching to use some new items so I used the new Daisy Delight bundle, which includes a daisy stamp plus some other cute images and a daisy punch. I watercolored the background using a lot of new colors: Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, Dapper Denim on the card on the right and Berry Burst, Flirty Flamingo and Power Pink for the card on the left.

These new colors are so nice! My favorite is either Berry Burst or Lemon Lime Twist; it's a toss up.

After watercoloring the background, I punched out several of the daisies and added one of the new Gold Faceted gems. These are great too! The sentiment is from Oh So Succulent. I love the font of this sentiment.

I hope this starts getting you excited for the new catalog coming in June!

Good night!!

Mother's Day Pampering Gift Set

Hi Stampers! I had the pleasure of being a guest blogger on the Stampin' Up! corporate blog last week. In case you missed it, here is the post I shared.

Mother’s Day is coming up and I’ve put together a pretty manicure gift set for a mom or any amazing woman who could use a little pampering. I love putting gifts together in fun packaging and of course they must coordinate! But that’s easy to do by just making sure you have all the same elements on each item.

Do you have a few of the Mini Egg Cartons (item 142776) left over? Don’t let them go to waste. They are great gift holders for treats any time of the year. I decided to use them to hold little mini nail polishes. They fit perfectly!

I used some of the items available from the Eastern Palace Premier Bundle (item 147207) that is available now from the new 2017 – 2018 Annual Catalog. I decorated the outside of the carton with an Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper belly band. This gold paper is to die for. I will be using this up quickly! A 2 x 12-inch strip of this paper “just fits” around the carton. To be sure there is a little wiggle room to take the belly band on and off, I cut a small piece of Very Vanilla cardstock (item 101650) to use to glue the ends of the DSP together. This way the DSP can touch and you don’t have to overlap the paper to glue it. You also don’t have to worry about the seam because that will be covered by the medallion.

Then I added two medallions to the belly band using the new Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies. The large medallion was die cut in Basic Black cardstock (item 121045) and the smaller one uses the polka dot DSP from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper.

To make the larger medallion you will need to use one of the large Layering Circle Framelits Dies (item 141705) to cut it into a circle shape as shown below.

The medallion is decorated with flowers from the Jars of Love Stamp Set (item 141587). I stamped the flowers in Sweet Sugarplum Classic Stampin’ Pad (item 141395), Pink Pirouette Classic Stampin’ Pad  (item 126956)  and Tranquil Tide Classic Stampin’ Pad on Whisper White Cardstock (item 100730). First I stamped off the image once on scrap paper which gives you the lighter color on the flowers. (For the Tranquil Tide flower, I stamped off twice on scrap paper before stamping on Whisper White Cardstock (item 100730)). The leaves were stamped in Lemon-Lime Twist Classic Stampin’ Pad. This is already my new favorite color! I love this time of year when you can experiment mixing the old and new colors. The rest of the egg carton is decorated with a Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine (item 141682) bow and a gold tassel from the Mini Tassels Assortment.

Also included in this gift set is a Glassine Gift Bag (item 141700) filled with a nail file, lotion and manicure set. I die cut 2 additional medallions with the Gold Foil Sheets (item 132622) and Basic Black Cardstock (item 121045). I stamped and die cut another flower and a couple of leaves. I found the best way to adhere the leaves and flowers is to put Mini Glue Dots (item 103683) the back of each one and arrange them how you like.

And finally, is a card for these gifts. You can’t give a gift like this without a pretty card. Mom or any other woman deserves a pretty card. I decided to use one of the sentiments from All Things Thanks Stamp set (item 143097) as the focal point of the card. I stamped the sentiment with the Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad  (item 140931) on a die cut Whisper White Cardstock (item 100730) circle. I used another piece of the polka dot DSP and a strip of the gorgeous gold DSP from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper for the background of the card. This was mounted on Basic Black Cardstock (item 121045) and then Whisper White Thick cardstock (item 140272). I then stamped and die cut more flowers. I used the same technique that was done for the egg carton and glassine bag. The two-step stamping with this set along with the coordinating dies make having multiples of an image quick and easy. The final touches for this card was another Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine (item 141682) bow and gold sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment (item 138390).

I hope you can see how using the same elements across all the projects makes everything look coordinated. I hope this inspires you to make coordinating gift sets!

Ok now what you've been waiting for. The fun projects with this bundle. There are so many great ways to use the stamps and thinlits. In the previous Artisan Blog Hop I used the thinlits as cut outs for my cards. And let me tell you there are about a million ways to use those thinlits! Today I decided to focus on embossing with them. This is such a fun technique. I learned about this technique at a demo event back in February. So this just gives you even more ways to use the thinlits.

My first card uses the embossing on the Soft Sky cardstock. You will have to run this through the bigshot a few times to cover the whole card stock but the end result is worth it.

{Multipurpose platform, standard cutting mat, silicone mat, cardstock, thinlit, standard cutting pad}

You will use the multipurpose platform (without the thinlit adapter), the standard cutting pad, then the silicone mat, then cardstock and then your standard cutting pad and then run it through the big shot and that's it! An awesome embossed look from thinlits. (Note: the silicone mat is key to make sure that you do not cut all the way through the cardstock).

For the rest of the card I added a medallion thinlit from Gold foil paper and the sentiment was stamped on a die cut circle. Some gold thread, a mini tassel and gold enamel shapes finish off the card.

For my next card, I wanted to use the embossing again but wanted something a little quicker. So I just embossed the white panel. I then die cut one of the larger medallions in Blushing Bride cardstock and added the sentiment on another die cut circle. I wanted this to kind of look like a flower. Then I used the stamps to make a fun background design. I also added some of the Eastern Gold Vinyl stickers. This was layered on the super pretty Eastern Palace Specialty DSP.
