Tasty Trucks - SAB

Good evening! Quick post for tonight. I had wanted to post this earlier but you know, Christmas priorities got in the way. Almost done with everything though. Just one more batch of cookies and stocking stuffers to wrap. I feel like I'm pretty on schedule so I should have some free time on Christmas eve and not feel rushed before we got to my brother's house.

Anyway, I played with the new Tasty Trucks set from the upcoming SAB catalog. You can get this super cute set for FREE with a $50 purchase. How fun is this to get for Free!! I used a mix of markers and ink with the aqua painter to color in the truck. I layered it on the Cupcakes and Carousel DSP. I stamped the sentiments several times and then just hand cut them out. Behind the truck piece I used a bunch of copper wire (it's a little hard to see in the photo). Then the final touch was some enamel dots. Love them!

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I have another cute card using this truck again. Hopefully I'll be able to post it tomorrow if not, I'll post it after the holidays. Enjoy your holiday!

Blooming Flower - Watercolor Birthday Card

Hello! I'm taking a quick break from all of my holiday chores to post this card I made the other day. A couple of weeks ago I colored this flower in with the new watercolor pencils. I shared the colored image on my Instragram and this is the finished card. Be sure to follow me on Instragram to see more crafty stuff (Instagram name: Sootywingstudios). I wanted to try out the new pencils. I tried them briefly at OnStage but didn't use them real long. So far I really like them. I stamped the image on shimmer paper and colored in the flower with the pencils and a blender pen. I love how it came out. This is my all time favorite flower to color. It's hard to tell in the photo but there is a nice shimmer from the paper. I adhered this image to some black card stock and Pop of Pink DSP. I had planned on wrapping the ribbon around the DSP but glued the DSP down first and then realized I forgot to add the ribbon. So I just added a strip and cut the ends then added the bow. I stamped the sentiment on Sweet Sugarplum card stock and cut out the Happiest and birthday so they would be separate. I always forget about doing this with the sentiments. Sometimes you don't want the sentiment all together and cutting it out like this is a fun touch. The final touch was to add some of the sprinkles from the new sprinkles embellishments in the Occasions 2017 catalog. Ok now back to work. Only a few days left to get everything done!!!

Have a great day!

Stamps: Birthday Blooms
Paper: Pop of Pink DSP, Black, Shimmer paper, Sweet Sugarplum
Ink: Archival Black

November Swap

Hello! I'm back with my swap for November. The theme for November was to use washi tape. If we didn't have any we could also cut DSP to the size of washi tape and use that. So I did a mix of both. I used some Candy Cane Lane DSP cut into thin strips and the copper foil dot washi tape. I used these as part of the background over some Cucumber Crush cardstock. Then I made lots of Santas for the cards. I punched him out and colored him with markers. As I was coloring these santas, my son saw me doing them and he wanted to join in as well. It was cute. He wanted to make sure he colored his just like mine. I adhered the Santa to a soft sky circle cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits. These stitched shapes give a nice little extra touch to your circles, ovals and squares. (They are currently on backorder but should be back in stock mid-January). Then the finishing touch was a little poof to the Santa's hat. I just cut apart the white pom pom trim for his hat.

I hope you liked today's card. These were fairly quick to put together so a great idea for any last minute cards you need to make!

Thanks for stopping by.

October Swap

Hello. I have a quick post for you today. I realized I never shared my October swap. The theme for October was to do a technique card. The technique I chose was to layer ink on the clear block and then stamp it on paper. I took my aquapainter and filled in any white spots with ink. It makes for a quick and easy background. This card is fallish but I think this would work great with some blues in the background and a green wreath for a winter card. Something I may have to try out!

I will be back tomorrow with my November swap. It's a cute one! And then I have to work on my December swap. So many things to do this month. At least my shopping is mostly done. Thank you Amazon Prime. Now I just need to find the time to wrap all of the gifts. It's hard with little kids around because I have to wait until everyone is definitely asleep so I don't get anyone peeking. But when that time rolls around, I'm ready for sleep myself! Oh well, it will get done at some point.

Thanks for stopping by!

SAB - Hey Chick

Happy Friday! I have some super cute cards to share today. I used the new SAB set called Hey Chick! How adorable are these chickens! This set will be available in January during Sale-a-bration. If you place a $50 order you can get this super cut set for free. I used other new products on these cards as well. The embossing folder is the new Hexagons dynamic embossing folder. This folder gives you a really nice deep impression on the cardstock. It kind of reminded me of chicken wire so that's why I wanted to use it in the background. The DSP is also from the Occasions 2017 catalog, called Cupcakes and Carousels DSP. As you can see you don't have to just use it with the cupcakes and carousel suite. I love being able to use DSP for cards other than they were intended for. And those crazy chickens were colored in with the new watercolor pencils. These are great! I colored the chickens and then blended the pencils with a blender pen. It's so easy! One other thing I did was outline the chickens with the gray pencil and then used the blender pen to blend it. It just gives the chickens a little dimension.

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek of new stuff! Now I'm off to do all of the other things on my to-do list that I should have been doing instead of crafting. :)

Stamps: Hey, Chick (SAB)
Paper: Early Espresso, Peekaboo Peach, Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Tip Top Taupe, Cupcakes & Carousels DSP
Ink: Archival black
Accessories: Hexagons Dynamic embossing folder, Layering circles framelits, Watercolor pencils, Blender pen, Banner triple punch, Burlap ribbon, In color enamel shapes, Brights enamel shapes

Dragonfly Dreams Display samples 13 - 15

Hi! It’s the final day of display stamper projects. Sorry it took so long to get them posted. But I did save the best for last. At least these are the projects I liked the most.

This card is my favorite one of the bunch. I wanted to do a stained glass/mosaic look with this card. It took a bit of time gluing all of these pieces but it looks so pretty. I kept the rest of the card simple because I wanted the dragonfly to be the star.

My next card is similar to one I did in the past. I added ink to my block using the aquapainter and put the block down on shimmer paper. I went back and filled in any white spots with the corresponding ink. I just love the rainbow look of this card. Then I used the Labeler Alphabet for the Hello sentiment. (The word friend comes from the set). And finished it off with sequins, twine and pearls.

And my last card was done for my husband. He always wants me to make a scene on my card. So he wanted something that showed dragonflies in the water against some kind of sky background. So I think this card meets his requirements. I used some images from the Jars of Love set to make the lily pads, bees and green flowers. The other "weeds" in the Tip Top Taupe color is the dragonfly body stamp. I thought it looked more like a plant. And the final touch was to add the small dragonfly cut outs from copper paper.

Well I hope you enjoyed all of my samples. Now it's on to finishing up some christmas cards and finish up christmas shopping. Hopefully I'll be able to get a little crafty time in soon.

Dragonfly Dreams Display samples 10 - 12

Hello everyone! I am getting to the rest of my display samples. I'll share 3 of them today and then the rest tomorrow (hopefully!). These are the last of my 3-d projects and then one of the cards.

I love how this mini treat bag came out. I stamped the bee and embossed him with the copper embossing powder. It's so pretty! I added a bee and a strip of hearts cut from the copper paper. I also added half of a doily. The sentiment is stamped using the Rich Razzleberry ombre ink pad. I didn't think I liked these at first but they do make images and sentiments a little more interesting. You should give them a try!

My other 3-d item is these bobby pins. The dragonflies were stamped on Shrinky dinks!! How fun! Not only are shrinky dinks for kids, but great for stamping too. I stamped these and colored them with sharpies. Once they shrunk down they did come out a little darker than I would have liked. But still cute none the less. I also added some rhinestones in the middle of them and hot glued them to bobby pins.

My last card for today uses the Bermuda Bay ombre ink for the dragonflies. It makes them look so pretty. This card is a little more shabby chic. I added some images from the Timeless Textures stamp set. Then some ribbon and sequins finishes it off.

Don't forget Online Extravaganza is still going on!

November Paper Pumpkin

Happy Friday! So another interruption in display samples. :) I had to share my alternative ideas for this month’s paper pumpkin. I just got it yesterday and it is super cute! One of my favorites. Now the cards are a little on the smaller side but they are still adorable none the less. I made one card by the instructions and then 2 alternatives. I made a shaker card and then used the leftovers from that to make a cute little tag.

The denim dapper card is a normal 4.25 x 5.5 size card. I cut up the envelope and stamped it with the snowflake stamp which I then glued to the dapper denim base. I used the stitched framelits circle to make a border for the shaker card. Inside the shaker I used 2 of the pieces from the kit (the blue houses and green trees). I had some leftover snow from last year’s card kit in the holiday catalog which I used inside the shaker. The back of the shaker piece is the vellum from the kit. After I adhered the shaker I added the ribbon and sequins. I also added the sentiment on the bottom corner. This was stamped on some scraps from the house piece.

The tag was super easy. I cut up one of the cards and then just used the scraps from the houses and trees. I stamped some little snowflakes, the sentiment and added a sequin. So simple yet so cute! This would look adorable on a bag. Who wouldn’t love a tag like this on their gift and then open up one of these fabulous cards!

If you are interested in getting a kit like this sent to you each month, please contact me! They are such fun surprises each month and there are lots of fun alternatives to them as well.

Have a great weekend!!

Stitched Framelits Christmas Card

Hello! I'm interrupting the regular programming of display stamper posts. I just received my Stitched Framelits on Tuesday and had to try them out. They are actually on backorder right now. They were a huge hit with everyone! You can still order them but will just have to wait a little longer to receive them. I'm telling you it is totally worth the wait!! Just this simple little stitching on the die makes such a huge difference. I used the circle one on today's card where I stamped the sentiment. I thought about adding a layer behind the white circle but it actually doesn't even need it. The stitching on the white cardstock is almost enough. I was also trying to keep this fairly simple if you wanted to whip up a bunch of these to send out. The sentiment is from Oh What Fun which is also on sale until the end of the month. This set has lots of fun sentiments to use for cards and tags.

What do you think? Do you love these new framelits? They are a great deal since you get circle, oval and square shapes!! And don't forget about the great stamps that are on sale this month as well.

Stamps: Oh What Fun, Holly Berry
Paper: Candy Lane DSP, Pool Party, Tip Top Taupe, Gold glimmer paper, Old Olive, Real Red
Ink: Archival Black, Old Olive, Real Red
Accessories: Stitched Framelit dies, Holly Berry punch, Brights enamel shapes, pearls

Dragonfly Dreams Display samples- 8 & 9

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a lovely Tuesday. Mine is an extra coffee kind of day, haha! My 2 year old woke up twice last night and was having problems falling back asleep last night so I ended up sleeping in her bed, which was not the most comfortable sleep! Hopefully she will sleep better tonight. I am not in the mood to be dealing with newborn like wake ups again. So speaking of my 2 year old, today’s post shows the scrapbook pages that I did with her and my son. This picture of her makes her look so sweet and innocent but she’s a little spitfire as well. :) She is sweet but she sure is right in the middle of that fun stage called terrible twos!

I don’t do scrapbook pages too much but I really loved how this one came out. One of my favorite things in the ombre “Hello” at the top of the page. I glued 3 colors of cardstock to white cardstock and then ran the Hello you thinlit die through the big shot. I think this is a fun look for any of the word thinlits we have. I also used the Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay ombre pads to stamp out “pretty girl”. I took the letters from the Labeler Alphabet stamp and stamped each letter in the separate colors of the ink pad, starting with the lightest color first. This is cool right? Then I added some banners from different dsp, cardstock and the foil acetate paper. After that I felt like the page still needed something so I die cut the small dragonflies in Tip Top Taupe to give the page a little something but not stand out too much. And once again, more enamel shapes. I told you I went crazy with them.

My second page is with my son. A fun detail on the Night of Navy cardstock is the embossed stripes. I used the Simply Scored board to make the stripes. I put the navy paper on an angle and scored every few lines. In between those scored lines I glued the Emerald Envy taffeta ribbon. All of that was added on top of the foil acetate (the gold side again!) which I stapled. I added a couple of bees for some color and to find a way to use this set for something more man-ish. And then you guessed it, more enamel shapes!! Love these things!

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects. I hope that maybe it will motivate you to try some scrapbooking. I’m hoping that I’ll try to do some more in the future.

Dragonfly Dreams Display Samples - 6 & 7

Hello! I’m back with some more display stamper samples. Today’s cards focus on the little bee stamp in the set. There is a bee stamp and there is also a die. I’m showing cards that use both. First up, is the card that uses the die cut. I cut out the bee 3 times in Black cardstock and then 3 times in Crushed Curry cardstock. So I took the little pieces from the crushed curry and carefully placed them in the cutouts of the black cardstock. Now looking back at it, all I really could have done was just glued some Crushed Curry to the back of the bee. Maybe the effect would have looked a little different. I think what I should have done was used another yellow color cardstock to make it a little more interesting. Oh well. I do have a sample using this mosaic type technique with the large dragonfly die and different color cardstock and it looks awesome! So stay tuned for that. As for the rest of this card, I just kept it simple with an embossed sentiment, more enamel shapes and some copper paper and dsp in the background.

The second card focuses on the bee stamp. This card is one of my favorites. The bee was stamped several times in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry cardstock which was layered on top of the foil acetate paper. I then cut out Hello from the Hello You thinlits 3 times in Soft Sky cardstock. I glued all 3 pieces together to give it a thicker look. Then I applied wink of stella on top to make it sparkle! The card was finished off with more enamel shapes and Crushed Curry bakers twine.

I hope you are enjoying these samples. Thanks for stopping by and come back again tomorrow!

Dragonfly Dreams Display Samples - 3, 4 and 5

Hello! Welcome to my second post of Display stamper samples. Today I am sharing 3 of the cards I made. These cards focus on using the dragonflies from the set. For the first card I cut out several of the smaller dragonflies. The die for this contains 4 little dragonflies all together. So I cut several of them and layered them on the background in Shimmer white. I then cut the 2nd largest dragonfly from the cooper paper and added that to a white scalloped circle which has some cooper thread behind it. I finally added some Sweet Sugarplum as an accent color. I received the enamel shapes in my box and went crazy with them on my projects. I actually already had these so since I received a second set I did not feel bad about actually using them and NOT hoarding them, haha!

My second card uses the bold dragonfly cut out. This die cuts around the stamped image. I stamped the dragonfly in Early Espresso and then stamped the colored image in Flirty Flamingo (which was stamped off once). I used the gold polka dot foil acetate paper which I stapled to the Mint Macaroon cardstock. I am so sad to see this stapler go. Stampin' Up will no longer be selling it so get it now while you still can! Then I added a strip of gold glimmer paper and vellum with the sentiment stamped on top.

My third card uses the largest dragonfly die. I die cut this one with the gold glimmer paper. (See I told ya you would be seeing lots of gold - but isn't it just so pretty!) I also used this die on the Pink Pirouette cardstock as well. I added the gold dragonfly into the opening on the pink cardstock. I don't know if you can see it in the picture but under the gold dragonfly I added the gold polka acetate paper. You may be able to catch a glimpse of the polka dots. This was adhered to a piece of the Serene Scenery dsp. I added some clear sequins, a sentiment on vellum and.. you guessed it! gold twine!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying all of the display samples.

Dragonfly Dreams - Display Samples 1 and 2

Hello!! Today I'm going to share 2 of the display stampers projects I made. The stuff that I got to work with was the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and framelits, the Fabulous Foil acetate paper, enamel shapes, and Emerald Envy ribbon. I will share 2 - 3 projects in a post. Today I'm going to share 2 of the 3d items I made. I made 2 little gift bags for candy or small items. For the first item, I used the gusseted bags. I added some DSP to the back and filled it with some tissue paper. (I added candy to it after I took the picture). Then I added a banner and tag to the top and held it all together with a gold clip and ribbon. Love these cute little clips. The "Hello" was stamped with the Rich Razzleberry ombre pad.

The second 3d item was another little candy or small treat holder. Erica Cerwin had shared an idea where she cut the baker's box apart to make this cute little treat holder. I thought it was a fun idea so I tried this as well. I cut out 2 of the large pieces with Mint Macaroon and put it together. I then added a strip of the foil acetate around it. I decided to use the silver side since a lot of my other projects use the gold side of this paper. It's so funny because 2 or 3 years ago, I NEVER would have used so much gold but now it's all I want to use on my projects, haha! I tried to contain myself on these projects and have a mix of both. Then I punched out this pretty dragonfly with the Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper (it might be a little hard to see the sparkle in the picture). And finished it off with the Emerald Envy ribbon. It's a little simple but this way it's fairly quick to put together if you need to make several of them. Who wouldn't love to get some candy in this cute treat bag!

For these display samples post, I'm probably not going to post all of the products like I normally do because it's a little time consuming. If I have the time I will update them on the posts that I can. But feel free to contact me if you have any questions on anything I did.

Thanks for stopping by. See ya soon!!
