Hey Chick SAB: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog hop. There are 20 of us from around the world so be sure to follow along to see everyone's projects. You should have just come from Holly's blog.

This week our focus is on the SAB catalog. There are so many great sets in the catalog this year. The projects I did use the Hey Chick! set. I just love these chickens. Especially the one with the wild hair!

My first card uses the wild hair one as the focus. The sentiment is from Suite Sentiments and I thought it went well with this chicken. We all have that one crazy friend, haha! and that's what I had in mind for this card. All of the chickens were stamped in Versamark first then Archival Gray so I could emboss them. I did the same with the sentiment. The one chicken I stamped on watercolor paper and colored in with inks and an aqua painter. Once I got the card together, I added some Peekaboo Peach enamel dots and some dots of Dazzling Details. If you look close you can see I just put a dot of Gold Dazzling Details to give the card an extra touch. It's been a while since I used dazzling details and I really think this is a cute way to use them along with enamel dots, sequins, or any other embellishment! (Don't be surprised if you see this done on other cards of mine! :) )

Next up is my favorite card of the bunch.

For this card, I used the Carried Away DSP from the SAB catalog for the base. On top of that is Crumb Cake card stock that was embossed with the Hexagons embossing folder. I cut along the top and bottom to give it a decorative edge.  Then I layered some burlap ribbon and Bermuda Bay sequin trim. This time I colored the chicken on Shimmer White paper with inks and an aqua painter. I like to use the shimmer paper a lot for water coloring because I like that little pop of shimmer. If you notice on the Stiched Shapes circle I stamped "Hey Chick!" several time in Crumb Cake ink. I did stamp the image once on scrap paper and then onto the circle so the ink wasn't too intense. For the sentiment, I stamped it several times on Pool Party card stock so I could cut it out and add an extra happy. Again, I used the Gold Dazzling Details and some sprinkles from the Sprinkles embellishments.

My final card is a little more simple.

I stamped all of the chickens from the set onto a Oval Stitched shape. I did a little bit of masking so the crazy hair chicken is behind the other two. I did use inks and an aqua painter to color in these chickens but I also used white craft ink as well. I used this for some highlights on the chickens and to help the colors stand out a bit. It gives it a different look but I like it. I kept the background simple by using the Inside the Lines DSP and a strip of black cardstock and bakers twine. I went back and forth on coloring the paper but in the end I didn't like it colored in so I just left it plain. Which I think works better for the card and for me because I was getting tired, haha!!

So that is is for me today! Go and check out what the rest of the team has done with these fun SAB sets. (Of course they are going to make me want to get the ones I don't have yet, hehehe!)
