Cool Treats Birthday Card - GDP089

Hello! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend. Quick post for you today. I will try to come back and update more later but I at least wanted to get this card posted. I decided to join the Global Design Project this week. This week was a color challenge. I love color challenges because it makes me use colors together that I would never think of putting together.

And here is my card for the challenge.

I love how this came out! It's such a fun and sweet card. It's hard to tell in the photo but there is a black layer that is embossed with the Hexagons Textured embossing folder. It gives it another fun little element to the card.

Hopefully you can see the embossing better in this photo. I also mixed some dazzling diamonds and clear embossing powder together to get the shimmer effect on the black cardstock.

Then I decided to make the inside a little prettier too!

I hope you liked today's card and join over the challenge at Global Design Project this week.

Kids Birthday Cards

Happy Friday! I have some fun birthday cards for you today. My son has a birthday party for twins from his class this weekend so I decided to make some fun cards. I try to make cards for as many as the parties as I can but sometimes, there are too many and not enough time! But I had a little bit of time today and these were pretty quick to put together. Score! Plus I wanted to use up some of my favorite items for the 2016 - 2017 catalog - Gorgeous Grunge and the Pop of Pink DSP. It's so funny because I didn't like the paper at first but I got it thinking I might use the black and white pieces. Which I did and basically the rest of the pack. I think this was my favorite DSP. It's so versatile. So if it's still there, grab it while you can.

The card was pretty simple to do. Stamp the splatter images in Pool Party ink. The larger one was stamped off first so it was a little lighter. I cut out the number 5 with the Large Number Framelits. These are also super versatile. The Lemon Lime Twist circle was die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The sentiment is curved but I didn't want it like that. So I tried to straighten it out as best as I could on the block and then I just cut out each of the words after stamping it on Bermuda Bay cardstock. Then I just finished it off with some enamel shapes.

Super fun for a 5 year old right!! Imagine the different color combinations you could do this in to. So cool!

Have a fabulous weekend!!

Sweet and Cool Birthday Cards: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog hop. There are 20 of us from around the world so be sure to follow along to see everyone's projects. You should have just come from Holly's blog. Awesome projects as usual!

This month we are focusing on the Cool Treats Suite. This bundle is perfect for summer and even better it's not retiring, so you'll be able to use it all summer long!

My first project mostly focuses on the awesome specialty paper. I used 2 of the fun designs for the background. I stamped the sentiment on Crumb Cake and punched the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I added some doilies under each one. The super cute strawberries were stamped and then hand cut. I added some Basic Black baker's twine and some enamel shapes. Love those shapes!!

My other card is a little more time consuming. The background was done by stamping the word "Cool" in Lemon Lime Twist first and then I just touched it gently on the Bermuda Bay ink pad to give it a two-toned look. The rows of spoons were stamped with Bermuda Bay ink.

I did the ice cream in Very Vanilla with Early Espresso fudge on top!! Yum! I coated the "fudge" pieces with the Fine Tip Glue pen to make it shiny and while it was wet, went crazy with the Sprinkles embellishments.

I then added the Calypso Coral ombre ribbon, a wood heart shape and a Shrinky Dink popsicle! If you notice attached to the ribbon is an itty bitty popsicle. I used paints to paint the popsicle stamp onto Shrinky Dinks. Then I die cut it with the coordinating die, punched a hole in the top, heated it with my heat gun and let the Shrinky Dinks do their work. How cute is that?!?!

I hope you enjoyed these fun summer cards and make some for your summer birthdays!

Next up is Jessica Winter. Click below to check out her amazing projects! They are fantastic!
