January Swap - Valentine's Day

Hello! It's almost Friday! Woo hoo! I am ready for the weekend, even though we don't have anything really planned this weekend. I'm hoping to get some crafty time in. Last weekend was a little busy so I'm looking forward to a break this weekend. But last weekend I held my first kids card class so that was fun! I had 15 kids!! Which was a tad more than I was expecting for my first time but it was good. Some of the parents helped their children which also helped me as well.

Here is a picture of the setup at the cute little shop in a nearby town and the projects the kids the made.

This is the creative changes the kids made to their cards. They did a great job! I can't wait to plan my next class!

While on the valentine's theme, I'm going to share my swaps that I created for my monthly swap group. As you can guess our theme was Valentine's day. I wanted to show that you don't necessarily need a Valentine's stamp set for a Valentine's card. I wanted to search through sets I already had to create something and the Ribbon of Courage set worked perfectly!

What a bright and fun set of cards! The Painted Love DSP from the Occasions catalog is awesome! I think I may have mentioned that in earlier posts but I just love this stuff!

I stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo ink onto Powder Pink cardstock. Then I stamped the heart image in Calypso Coral on Calypso Coral cardstock. This was all layered on Rich Razzleberry card stock along with the Painted Love DSP. I would have never thought to put these colors together but they work great. I die cut 2 hearts with the coordinating framelits from the DSP. Then I finished off the card with half a doily, a strip of gold foil paper and some sequins. Love me some sequins! :)

I hope you enjoyed these fun swaps!

November Swap - Holiday Ornament - GDP 115

Hello!! I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We hosted around 20 people last week so I was busy cleaning and getting ready so it was quiet on the blog last week. But now that it's over at least I have a somewhat clean house and a decorated house. And now that I don't have to worry about getting ready for Thanksgiving, I had a little bit of time to relax and get crafty. I had to work on my swaps for the monthly group that I'm in. (Nothing like waiting until the last minute!) Our theme this month was a flat ornament. I don't normally share my swap on my blog until after everyone gets it, but this time it worked perfectly for the theme challenge at Global Design Project. I love getting the chance to play along with these challenges.

Since the swap theme was flat ornament and the GDP challenge was Christmas Joy, I thought that was a perfect match. My idea of Christmas Joy is ornaments. I love all of the fun ornaments we have for our tree. Of course now a days it's filled with all sorts of disney and cartoon related figures but that's ok, it's still cute.

I chose to use the Seasonal Lantern set to make these pretty ornaments. I LOVE that there are matching framelits for all of these elements. They make it so much easier to make multiples.

If you notice only one of these ornaments have sequins on them. I wasn't sure if I liked how it looked. I think it's nice but I chose to keep them off on the rest of them. What do you think? Which do you like better?

The Wood Textures DSP makes the perfect background for the lantern. I love this DSP so much. I think I pretty much used up the whole stack.

And look how cute it is on your tree! I layered everything on a scalloped circle that was die cut with the thick whisper white paper. This way it's a little sturdier for hanging on your tree. I had so much fun making these ornaments. Maybe I should try to make up a few more in some other colors!

Thanks for stopping by!

Witches Brew

Happy Wednesday!! I have a cute Halloween card to share today. I figure I better get it posted before Halloween comes and goes! This was the swap card I made for the monthly swap group I'm in. Our theme for September was Halloween/Fall. (Side note: I still have swaps from other months that I haven't shared here yet, so I'll work on that for the next couple of weeks).

Anyway, I decided to use the Merry Cafe stamp set. I thought this set was so cute in the catalog. And would you believe this is the first time using the Coffee Cups Framelits. I got them in my first order way back in June and I have yet to use them until now. I can't wait to use this set again for more fun cards!

I first stamped the Burlap stamp onto Elegant Eggplant card stock. I realized that I didn't not have Elegant Eggplant ink so I used Fresh Fig ink and it worked just fine. I cut a piece of the cute plaid DSP from Merry Little Christmas and layered it on top of Elegant Eggplant. The coffee cup was cut out of Lemon Lime Twist card stock. I stamped the sentiment onto Crumb Cake and cut it out.

I finished off the coffee cup with some Black lace trim under the lid along with a Crushed Curry bow. And then some black rhinestones. Cute right!

These were quick to make but are so cute. These would look great in other colors and other DSP. Give it a try. I'd like to see what you can come up with!

Thanks for stopping by!

May Swap

Hello! I am going to quickly share my May swap with you. I think I am behind on sharing my swaps so I'll have to put another post together of the ones I haven't shown yet. I just had these pictures ready so I figured I'd share it now. This month we were to use a recycled item on our card or for the technique for our card. I decided to use a used dryer sheet. For this technique you stamp your images on your cardstock, add some sort of glue (I used the multipurpose adhesive sheets), and then add the dryer sheet on top. Then I sprinkled dazzling diamonds on top to make it nice and sparkly.

Hopefully you can see some of the sparkle in this picture. This was a fun technique to try. It's something different for your card and who doesn't love some extra sparkle!

Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow for the Artisan Design Team blog hop! It's a fun one this month!!

SAB Tasty Trucks Swap

Happy Friday!! It is going to be another nice warm day here on the east coast! This weather is such a tease. I feel like spring should be here next week but I'm sure we'll be back to the super cold weather in no time. So we've been taking advantage of this warm weather and getting outside after dinner a couple of nights this week. But that means less time for crafting this week. Luckily I have a couple of cards that I haven't shared yet.

First up is my SAB swap for a recent demo event I went to at the beginning of the month. We are still in the heart of SAB so make sure you earn this super cute food truck set. I love this truck!! I do want to try to make some cards with some of the smaller elements from the set but for now, I'm using the fun truck.

I colored the truck with an aqua painter and various inks. The truck just barely fits inside of the large stitched shape oval. Just the top left corner got a little cut off but I think it's fine. If I was only making 1 card I would have cut the truck out but I wasn't about to do that for 12 cards. Plus I waited until the last minute to do these and would have never had time to get them all done if I cut them out. Anyway, I then layered that on some Urban Underground DSP. The polka dot DSP is from the Cupcakes and Carousel DSP. I like how you can use DSP from different sets and they still match and look good together. Then I just added some Bermuda Bay sequin trim and stapled it all to the oval. Quick and simple!

I hope you enjoyed today's card. And if you have warm weather near you I hope you are enjoying it as well. If you are stuck with snow, I'm sorry. :)

Have a great weekend!

December Swap - Cherry on Top

Happy Friday!! Did everyone enjoy the Artisan blog hop last week?? The team had such great projects. Be sure to come back every other Thursday to follow along with the team. It's been a little quiet on the blog this week as my family has been battling the lovely stomach bug. It hit my daughter over the weekend, then me and then my son. Unfortunately the kids got it worse than me but everyone seems to be on the mend now. We did have a fun weekend last weekend as I took my son to his first basketball game. He's been to into sports that it was really fun to bring him to a game. We went to see Seton Hall (my alma mater) vs. St. Johns. And we were lucky enough to witness a win.

Here is a picture of my son having a great time!

Ok moving on to the crafty stuff you are here for. Today's card is the swap I did for our monthly swaps. Our theme for December was Fancy Fold cards. I don't usually do these that often so it was fun to try something new. I decided to do a twist fold gate card. Never did one before? There is a great tutorial on it on Splitcoast HERE. I decided to use the Pop of Pink DSP along with the Frozen Treats stamp set. This is a good set for using those ombre ink pads. I used the Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay one for this card. The ombre pad also works well on the sentiment too. For the ice cream cone on the front, I stamped the solid image in Soft Sky and then used the ombre pad for the swirls. Surprisingly this card has NO embellishments or ribbon!! I think because it has a fancy fold you don't need to add anything else. One thing to note is that since my tag with the sentiment is a little long it doesn't fit into a regular size envelope. So this is one of those hand delivered cards.

I hope you liked today's card and will give a fancy fold card a try!

Have a great weekend!
