GDP #270 - Sketch Challenge: Christmas Blessings

Hello! I'm going to make my post brief but I had to share the card I made for the Global Design Project challenge this week. This week's challenge is a sketch. Sketches and color challenges are my favorites. Anyway click HERE for the sketch.

I'm working on my christmas cards so this sketch was good to help me come up with some other ideas.

I'm in LOVE with the Heartwarming DSP so I wanted to use that as the background for my card. I also thought it would be fun to use some of the dies from Forever Flourishing. I cut out several of the leaves with the Festive Felt, Old Olive cardstock and Gold glimmer paper. These were all placed around a gold hoop. I've used these fun hoops way more than I thought I would. They are such a fun touch to the card.

I used the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder on Shimmery white cardstock. This is such a great embossing folder! Grab it now while it's on sale!

The sentiment is from Wrapped in Christmas and it's stamped on Sahara Sand card stock. The finishing touch is some Gold Glimmer dots. Love these as well!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Global Design Project #202

Hello! I'm back with another sketch challenge and another post!! This time I'm playing along with the Global Design Project sketch challenge. You can find the challenge HERE.

Another fun sketch challenge. I used one of my new favorites....Good Morning Magnolia bundle. The flower in this set is just to die for. I love coloring it!

I watercolored the flower using an aquapainter and various inks: Flower - Petal Pink, Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick; Leaves - Soft Sea Foam, Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana; Stem - Sahara Sand and Early Espresso. Once everything was dry, I added some splatters using my Crumb Cake marker. I really love how you can quickly add color to the flower and it looks so great.

The Coastal Cabana background piece was embossed with the Tin Tile embossing folder. I then used a strip of DSP from the Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP. I also added some gold touches with Gold Glimmer paper and Gold foil sheets.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this flower brightens your day.

GDP172 - Valentine's Kangaroo

Hello! I'm going to have a quick post today but I wanted to share the card I made for this week's Global Design Project challenge. (My other valentine's decor project will be posted in a couple of days.....just need to edit photos). This week's challenge can be found HERE. It's a Case the Designer Challenge. I like these challenges to help get the creative juices flowing.

Here is the card to CASE.

I decided to make a valentin'es card with this challenge. Now I just need to hide the card so my hubby doesn't see it. I'm on top of my game by having a card ready for him already, haha!!

I used the Animal Outing bundle for this card. At first I wanted to use it so I could use the Wild About You sentiment but then I realized that I used that sentiment on the anniversary card I gave him back in October so I wanted to use a different saying. I still decided to go with the animals from the set though. Instead of stamping and coloring them, I went the quick route and die cut the kangaroo and leaves from the Animal Expedition DSP. I don't usually do that but it's fun to change it up once in a while and it's so easy. Definitely helps the card making process.

I also used the new Be Mine Stitched Framelits. I really got these dies for that open heart border die. It's soooo cute! I decided to keep some of the hearts stuck in the die because it looked cool. The larger heart die with the "love you" staying is also from the framelits.

After I layered everything on the All My Love DSP, I added some of the Heart Epoxy Droplets to the card. They give it a fun little touch!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful Thursday!

Global Design Project # 142 - Stitched All Around

Hello! I have a quick Friday post for you. I have been able to get crafty a little bit with some new goodies so I have some stuff to share for the next few days! Yippee!! Today's card is for the Global Design Project Challenge #142. Since it's been so long since I've done cards, I'm doing a bunch of challenges to get back into the swing of things. This challenge was a sketch challenge. Check it out here.

Here is my card for the challenge. LOTS of new goodies used!!

The first thing I had to use out of all the new stuff was this Gorgeous Grape paper!! Purple is my favorite color and I've been dying for a bright purple like this!! I will try not to go too crazy and use purple all the time! :) I also used the new Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. This paper is so fun too. I only got the Brights collection for now, but I can see where I'm going to need to get the rest of the color collections.

The fun stamp on the Gorgeous Grape cardstock is from the Gallery Grunge stamp set. I can see that this will probably be a well used set. And can we talk about that die cut where I stamped the sentiment?? Is that not the pretties label die ever!!! Something else I will probably be using a lot of!! I stamped one of the sentiments from Stitched All Around using Lovely Lipstick and Coastal Cabana ink to make an ombre look. I like how the Lovely Lipstick and Coastal Cabana ink blended in the middle to make a little purple color.

Last but not least, I added some of the new Glitter Enamel shapes and some sequins.

I hope you enjoyed today's card!! Stop back soon as I have another 2 cards to share.

Have a great day!

Global Design Project #130 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday! I am excited to be a guest designer on the Global Design Project challenge this week. I was a winner on last month’s color challenge, woo hoo!, so I get to participate as a guest designer this month.

This week the challenge is a sketch challenge. I love a sketch challenge and this one is great.

My kids went to a birthday party this weekend for the girls of friends of ours. Of course I had to make their cards and this sketch challenge was perfect for that. I love how these came out.

The first card I did was the party hat card. I started by cutting out one of the party hats from the Picture Perfect Party DSP. Then I cut out a number 5 from the large number framelits with the Myths and Magics glimmer paper. A kids birthday card has to have sparkle to it! For the background I used another piece of DSP from the Picture Perfect Party pack and then stamped the diagonal stripe piece. I did go pretty literal from the sketch by stamping the diagonal piece but you could definitely switch that out by using another piece of DSP or stamping a different image. And to finish it off I added the ribbon and some pink tutti fruitti sequins.

For my next card, I decided to use the Magical Day stamp set. I could see myself using all of the images from this set with this same layout for other birthday cards. That is next on my list to try!!

I stamped and colored the unicorn with the Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry blends. I cut the 3 out from the Myth and Magic glimmer paper again. This time I used my Pink Pirouette blends marker to color it in. I like how it became a light peachy color. The DSP used on this card was from Painted With Love. I love all of the papers in this set. I again used the diagonal strip stamp on Flirty Flamingo cardstock. I was having fun using different shades of pinks and purples on this card. To finish off this card, I added the silver baker’s twine and some iridescent sequins.

Make sure you stop on by the Global Design Project blog and play along with this week's challenge and check out the other great designs by the team.

Have a great day!

Global Design Project Challenge GPP090 - Hot Air Balloons

Well it's a cold dreary Tuesday here in NJ. It makes me want to be at home on the couch binge watching Shameless on Netflix. I just started that the other day and now it's all I want to watch. But before I got back into it last night, I had a bit of time after the kids went to sleep to play along with this weeks Global Design Project challenge. This week was a sketch challenge. I have fun with sketch challenges too. It helps me try to use different layouts instead of always going back to the same things I always do.

This is a pretty basic sketch so lots of ways you can interpret it. I decided to keep exactly to the sketch.

Here is my take.

I used the Lift Me Up stamp set along with the new Pattern Party decorative masks and embossing paste. The embossing paste is so fun!! It gives a fun texture to your cards. Last week I used them with sponge daubers for a colorful background. This time I kept it simple and just used the masks with the paste. I can't wait to do more backgrounds with the embossing paste.

Hopefully you can see in this picture the texture the paste gives. The rest of the card is fairly simple just using the stamps from the set. The card was finished off with some bakers twine and metallic shapes.

And I'm excited to say that my card from last week's challenge was picked as one of the additional winners. Stop by to check out the other winners from last week and try out this week's challenge!

Have a nice day!
