Glimmer Celebrations Cards

Happy Snow Day!! We have a blizzard going on today! Work and school were closed for the day. This is the first time in years work has been closed since everyone can mostly work from home now a days. But I will take it! Although snow days with kids are not what they used to be, haha! The days of lounging in front of the tv all day are gone. Now it's mommy, lets play this, mommy lets do that, haha!! But it's still nice to just be able to watch the snow in front of the fire in my loungy pants instead of being at work!

My cards today are some quick cards I put together using the SAB glimmer paper. Love this stuff!! For the baby card, I used the glimmer paper to die cut the word happy. It's so pretty! The paint stripes are from the Happy Celebrations stamp set. I stamped them in Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo. I stamped them twice, once in regular strength and then just stamped again. The Pool Party piece was stamped with the circle from the set. Then I added "new baby" and some enamel shapes. It's a little more clean and simple than I usually do but I like it. It was hard for me to not add more to all that white space on top but I don't think it needs anything else. What do you think?

The next card is a birthday card. I embossed the Happy with the embossing folder than stamped the splatter image on top of that. I did it a couple of times, enough to cover most of the word happy. Then I just put ink on the birthday sentiment and stamped it several times on the top and bottom of happy. The full sentiment is birthday to you but I just made sure I only added ink to "birthday". I didn't want ink on the other words. Then I added some triangles in Emerald Envy and added Pumpkin Pie enamel shapes. This time, I just added a large piece of the glimmer paper as part of the background.

These 2 cards came together pretty quickly and are a great way to use the glimmer paper. They would look great in other colors!

Welcome Baby Card - From the Garden

Hello! I have another baby card to share today. Lots of babies all around!! This card is for a friend of ours that just had a baby girl. She was 2.5 weeks early so I had to quickly get my card together! :) I had the From the Garden set on my desk waiting to be used so I decided to try it out for a baby card. I think it came out pretty cute. I love these little flowers from the set. I did color them with Blendabilities just because I still want to use what I bought but these could easily be colored with regular markers. The colors I used were Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi. The "welcome baby" is from the And Many More set. I thought the sweet as can be from the From the Garden set worked well too. I stamped both of those in Coastal Cabana. Then I added some Wild Wasabi twine and pearls to finish it off. I think this was a good use of this stamp set for something other than gardening/spring. I love the little dies from this set. I have plans to use these dies for my easter cards that I want to make for my son and niece. I have some cute ideas in my head so lets hope they translate to paper well. Do any of you have that problem too? You have all of these fun ideas in your head and when you execute them it just does not turn out how you want it to. I hate when that happens. I go through all of the work to put a card, 3-d object together and it just doesn't look right. Well wish me luck in that my easter cards come out cute so I can post them here! Oh and also wish me luck that I have time to work on them! That seems to be my downfall too. And now we've decided to take on the project of painting our living room. So I feel like I should be spending my brief "free" time doing painting prep when I really want to craft. I hope to sneak some time in this weekend. Baby Shower Decorations - part 2

Hello, I'm back!! Today I am going to share the card, diaper bouquets and banners that I did. I really had so much fun designing and doing all of these things for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I had so many ideas going through my head but ultimately we landed on a coral, turquoise and pink color scheme with hot air balloons and bunnies. I wanted to do something that wasn't the traditional pink for a baby girl shower. And I was just in love with the hot air balloon diaper cake that I had to have that in there somewhere. So imagine my surprise when I go into Carter's a few weeks before the shower and they have a whole section of baby girl's clothes in peach and turquoise with hot air balloons on it. What are the chances of that. It was perfect! We were doing a clothesline banner so the 5 onesie set that they had was a perfect fit for this. (The set included gray which was a color we also used). I love how everything just coordinated so well.

So I will start with the clothesline banner. I couldn't get a great picture of this so this is the best I have right now (I will update this if her friend got a better picture of it).

All of the clothes were hung with clothespins on Smokey Slate Chevron ribbon (which is hard to see in the photo). In between each onesie, I die cut a onesie from the Papertrey Ink die in Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana and Pink Pirouette. The heart is from the Hearts a Flutter framelits.

Next up is the "It's a Girl" banner. (Again, sorry for the bad/blurry photos). I wasn't able to take any at home so the best I could do was while it was hung up at the restaurant.

I printed out all of the letters from MDS in Crisp Cantaloupe, which were then punched with the 1 3/8 inch circle punch. I then punched scallop circles from Pink Pirouette cardstock. The Coastal Cabana flowers were from the Floral Framelit dies. And all of these items were then glued to paper doilies and attached to Calypso Coral chevron ribbon with clothespins. Next to the "A" letter I added 2 Coastal Cabana roses from the Flower Spiral die.

We will now move on to the diaper bouquets. This was an idea that I had seen at another baby shower that I really liked. I liked it instead of the traditional diaper cake. I made 4 of these for the tables. I searched pinterest for how to make the diaper flowers. Then I used the Flower Spiral die to add roses to each bouquet. I added 5 roses to each bouquet in Pink Pirouette and Crisp Cantaloupe. I added Smokey Slate and Calypso Coral chevron ribbon to each of the mason jars.

And last but not least is my card for the baby gift.

I cased the 3rd card on this site. I just changed a few things to the colors and theme of the shower. Since I actually don't have the Baby We've Grown stamp set, I just printed out the images I wanted from My Digital Studio. Looking back, I should have printed the bunny bigger but oh well. I used the Fresh Prints DSP stack for the background. I colored and cut out the bunny and used the Starburst framelits for the "Brand New" image. To finish it off I added Crisp Cantaloupe ruffled ribbon and 2 pink buttons from my button stack.

Now that this is done, I hope to have a little more time to get back to crafting. I do have my son's second birthday invite to share as soon as I get that finished. Then I hope to play with some new catalog goodies soon! Thanks for stopping by!
