Magnolia Mother's Day

Hello!! Happy May!! It's the middle of May already and the new Stampin' Up! catalog will be live in just a few short weeks. While I should be playing with some of my favorites that are retiring, I just had to use the new Magnolia dies to make these little 3-d frames for Mother's Day. Mikaela from The Crafty Oink Pen had made these super cute frames on her blog a few weeks ago. I just loved them and wanted to try to make them too. She was nice enough to share the instructions to make the frames so I got right to work making my own. They were so easy to make!

After I made the frames, I knew I wanted to add magnolias to the middle. For the Navy frame, I just added one large magnolia in the middle. After I made the flower, I stamped the image from the Good Morning Magnolia set on to Granny Apple Green card stock and then cut it out with the coordinating dies. Since I only needed the leaves, I just cut those apart and added them to the back of the magnolia. I also added some cute cork embellishments that will be in the new catalog. Aren't they adorable?!?

The Crumb Cake frame is similar to the navy except that I added a smaller magnolia (and I didn't use the cork embellishments). For both frames I cut out "friend" from the Well Written framelits. Then I stamped one of the sentiments from the Well Said set on to Purple Posy card stock and cut out the words. One thing to note, Purple Posy may now be my new favorite color!! :) It's one of the new In Colors in the 2019 - 2020 catalog. It's a nice light purple that I think will go well with so many things!! I love it!

The center of these flowers use the Gold Faceted Gems. Also, the Pool Party card stock was embossed with the Tin Tile embossing folder. (Can you see how lovely that purple is?)

The center of this flower also uses a new item from the upcoming catalog. They are called Perennial Essence Floral Centers. They are fun fuzzy centers that are perfect for flowers!

Just one more look at the frame. How cute are these going to be on your wall!

I love how these came out. I may have to make one for myself to hang on my wall. Who wouldn't love looking at these magnolias!

Thanks for stopping by!

Decorated Note Pads

It's hump day!! I'm back sharing another group of items for my upcoming craft fair I'm attending. While I was searching pinterest for craft fairs items, I came across these little notepads that Angie Juda put together. LINK. I thought they were super cute and look easy to put together. Plus I knew that I had all the supplies I needed to make them right away. She uses coaster boards for her notebooks. I didn't have any of that but I found a bunch of card board that I had saved from My Paper Pumpkin boxes. This is one of those times, something useless I saved was turned into a project! :) The white note books were also items that I bought a while ago but never did anything with.

Originally I was going to use DSP from different packs but then as I was looking through the Share What You Love DSP stack, I found so many that I wanted to use, that I just stuck with the paper from this pack. I also like this paper because it's a little thicker than the regular DSP.

The front and back of the notepads use different paper. That's the fun thing about Stampin' Up! DSP, the 2 sides have different designs but coordinate so well together. I had a ton of binder clips at home that I have gotten from work so I dressed them up with the DSP as well. I added some coordinating ribbon (some of the notepads use retired ribbon) and a sweet little flower blossom.

If you notice, the flower blossom above isn't one of the colors you receive. I didn't like how any of the colors matched this particular DSP so I colored the Petal Pink flower with my Blackberry Bliss blends marker. Fun right!

Here is a look at the rest of the notepads I put together.

Aren't they so cute!! I think I'm going to take one of these to have at my desk at work. Maybe it will make my day more exciting to write some notes on a cute note pad!! :)

What do you think? Which one is your favorite??

Christmas Ornaments

Happy Tuesday! I have one more project (for now) to share using the Signs of Santa stamp set. I told you, I love this set! I wanted to get this project shared before I head out to Stampin' Up!'s convention in Orlando this week. I leave tomorrow and I'm ready for tons of stamping and meeting friends for the next few days!

The ornaments are from Michael's and come with  2 - half circles to a package so that you can make 1 ball ornament. Instead of making them a ball ornament, I added a cardstock backing to them so I could get 2 ornaments.

For the elves, I stamped the Buffalo Plaid stamp in Coastal Cabana ink on Pool Party cardstock. I die cut it with one of the Layering Circle framelits. To give it a little additional support I die cut the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes framelits with some of the thick cardstock found in the DSP packages. You know, that piece of thin card board that supports the DSP. It's perfect for some extra support on the ornaments!

Inside the ornament, I stamped, color and die cut images from the Signs of Santa set. I used a bunch of dimensionals to make them pop. For the elves, I also added some of the discontinued Santa's Workshop enamel shapes. Once I glued everything onto the cardstock, I added a bunch of retired mica flakes that I had lying around. You could you any kind of sequins or other fun things to add into the ornament.

Once that was all done it was time to add the ornament to the card stock. I ran hot glue around the ornament and glued it to the card stock. It wasn't looking so I added another thin layer of glue and adhered some ribbon around the outside. For the elves ornament, I added Garden Green Baker's twine. For the Santa ornament, I added some retired Real Red tinsel trim.

For both ornaments, I added a Garden Green baker's twine bow and loop to add it to the tree.

One thing to note on the background of the Santa ornament, I used a piece of the Festive Farmhouse DSP instead of stamping the background. Looks super cute too!!

I am so happy with how these came out! The characters are adorable and they give off a ton of sparkle. My kids loved shaking them and they can't wait to make some of their own!

I will be back next week after a fun filled trip to Orlando. I'm sure I will have tons of pictures to share!

Lift Me Up Birthday Card and Gift Box: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog hop. There are 20 of us from around the world  so be sure to follow along to see everyone's projects. You should have just come from Holly Stene's blog.

This month we are focusing on the Lift Me Up stamp set. I have created a birthday card and gift box using this set. I really love the look of these hot air balloons!

For my card, I used several colors from the Carried Away DSP in the Sale-a-bration catalog for the watercolor background. So I will tell you that this was the third card I had made. The first one was pretty much the same but I used a rainbow of colors for the background. I had also messed up on the embossing so I contemplated redoing it. Once I took a picture of the card next to the box, I wasn't loving the rainbow colors for the background. I wanted it tie to in better to the box. Not that they have to go together BUT I like them to match! So off to redo my card and I have to say I like this version MUCH better. I love how the background almost looks like a nice sunset. I used Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Night of Navy and Mint Macaroon for the background. I watercolored this on Shimmer White paper. I like to use the shimmer paper a lot for watercoloring. And all I did was put some ink into the top of my ink pad and brush it onto the cardstock with my aqua painter.

You can see in the picture below that I embossed the balloons by stamping the image with Versamark first, then Archival black. Also, be sure that your water colored background is completely dry before trying to emboss the balloons because you don't want embossing powder covering the entire card stock. (Don't ask me how I know! Remember I said this was my third card, haha!)

Once everything was watercolored and embossed, I added some gold sequins and Gold Glitz dazzling details. I did this on the cards for my SAB Artisan post and I like how it gives the card a little extra something without being too much. In the corner of the card, I added Gold sequin trim, the gold metallic ribbon from SAB, basic black baker's twine bow and a flower from the Sending Love embellishments. For the sentiment, I just stamped part of the one that said Happy Birthday. I added the Happy Birthday on the inside.

My next project is this cute little Baker's Box. This was cut with Crumb Cake card stock and embossed with the balloons from the set. I added more gold sequin trim and a baker's twine bow. The bow was glued to the gold clip and I added a strip of DSP from the Carried Away DSP. The sentiment is from Sealed with Love and I stamped that onto a cloud that was die cut from the Up and Away thinlits.

This was really very quick and easy to put together. Even though it looks like there is a lot going on, I'm telling you it was fairly quick to put together. The baker's box thinlits (one of my favorites!) make it so easy! And who wouldn't love receiving a small birthday gift in this cute box!!

Close up of the embossing on the box.

That is it for me today. I hope you enjoyed my projects with this stamp set!!

Next up is Jessica Winter. Click below to check out the fun things she made this month!
