Easter Flowers

Good morning! I have an Easter card to share today. I don't really have too many easter sets, if any, so I like to use flower sets for the couple of easter cards I make. Today's card is bright and cheery, perfect for Easter and perfect to get you in spring mode. I am so ready for spring/summer. I have had enough of winter and cold weather. For today's card I knew I wanted to use the mason jar from Perfectly Preserved as a vase for flowers. I decided to use the flowers from Fabulous Florets. I stamped everything (flowers and mason jar) onto watercolor paper. I like the not completely filled in look that it gave the flowers because then I was able to go back in with my markers and add a little bit of shading for dimension. Then I pulled out the hardly used Natural Compositions DSP for the background. I bought this paper on my first order from the new catalog and hardly used it. I have no idea why because I love this embossed flower paper that comes in it. I also stamped the "Happy Easter" on this paper as well. For the bottom half I embossed some Lucky Limeade with the Vine Street embossing folder from SAB. I then added some Daffodil Delight seam binding and some pearls to finish the card. Whale Shower and an update

Hello everyone! I have a little update on the blog. I changed my blog name to Sootywing Studios. I've been wanting to change the name of this for a while and I've been going through several different names. I ended up with this one, Sootywing, because it's kind of a play on my married last name. My last name is Sootkoos and as I was searching for names, I came across a type of butterfly that is called a Sootywing. So I kind of liked it and thought that it was a different name. Also, since I've been doing more invitations for clients, I would like to have some kind of name to go by. Hopefully soon I will get a website going with all of the invitation designs I offer. In the meantime, I will just post them to my blog and facebook page.

So today's card is a card that I made for a baby shower that I went to over the weekend. I wanted to use the cute whale from Oh Whale! I made my own chevron background using one of the images from Border Banter, which I stamped in Daffodil Delight. I also used the chevron embossing folder on the gray cardstock. Can't get enough of those chevrons! I stamped the whale in Perfect Plum and cut it out with the Happy Whale die. Then I added the Perfect Plum ribbon, the sentiment and some rhinestones. Bordering on Romance - wedding invites

Well I didn't expect it to be this long since I posted again. I had another card to share but I just haven't gotten around to posting it. I wanted to post it before Valentine's day since it was a Valentine's card but things just got really busy and I wasn't too excited how the card came out anyway. I still may try to post it soon. What was keeping me super busy (besides my 7 month old) was these wedding invitations I was working on for one of our friend's sister's wedding. Somehow I went crazy and said yes to making 125 of these pocketfold invites with coloring...ahhhh! It was a ton of work but I am very happy with how they came out. I was actually able to get them done in a months period of time which I didn't think was too bad either while taking care of a baby and working a full time job. But I am super glad that I'm finished and don't have to think about which part I'm going to tackle each night. These invites were a mix of MDS and stamping. The actual invite was designed in MDS, then I printed it and colored it in with pastels. All of the enclosures were done in Word and then I stamped the flower image from Bordering on Romance and colored those flowers in as well. Now that these are off my plate I hope to get back to stamping here and there so hopefully I'll have some more things to share with you in the future. Thanks for stopping by.

More hearts!

Happy Friday! Here is another card I made with the Hearts a Flutter set. These colors (Pumpkin Pie, Lucky Limeade and Raspberry Ripple) were inspired from a card I had seen on Maile Belles blog. These aren't your traditional valentine's colors but I think this would work as a Valentine's card. I stamped several of the hearts from the set in different colors onto the white cardstock. I cut out 3 banners using the Hearts a Flutter dies. I punched a heart in Pink Pirouette and added some Dazzling Diamonds to it. The "love" sentiment is from the Valentine Defined set. I colored in the "lo" with markers, stamped and punched and then I did the same thing to the "ve" part. I layered this on Crumb Cake cardstock that was embossed with the Chevron embossing folder and then that was layered on Crumb Cake cardstock. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Hearts a Flutter

Hello all! It's been a long long time since I've done any stamping. Once I get home from work and we do the daily ritual of eating, cleaning and what not, I am just too tired to do any stamping. And then there hasn't been any time on the weekends either. But somehow, yesterday I had time to make 3 cards! I was on a roll! I got some new goodies on Friday so I had a little inspiration to make something. Today's card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest. I used the new Hearts a Flutter bundle. This is such a cute set. I love those banners! The banners were stamped in Pool Party and cut out using the coordinating die. I stamped one of the heart images from the set in crumb cake on the crumb cake cardstock. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and I just colored each word with the Gumball Green marker and stamped them on their own little banner. I hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday Card Class

Well it has been quite a while since I've posted and done anything crafty. I went back to work in the middle of October so I've been getting used to that. Then 2 weeks after I got back we had to deal with Superstorm Sandy and the power outage that we had for 11 days. So that was interesting.

I do want to share with you the cards for my upcoming Holiday Card Class on November 29th. We will be making 5 cards using the Ornament Keepsakes bundle and Festival of Prints DSP. I love both of these things! The ornament bundle is so much fun. If only I had more time to play. :( And I love that the Festival of Prints DSP can be used for the holidays or other occasions since some of the paper isn't as festive.
