Frosted Floral Love - Wall Art

Happy Monday! Where oh where did the weekend go? It always goes by so fast. This weekend was low key for us, which was nice. I was actually able to get crafty! I got some goodies from the new upcoming holiday catalog and I had to get to work! I was able to make 3 things this weekend!! That is a lot!! In the past few months, I've barely made like 3 cards, let alone 3 projects in one weekend. The stars must have aligned for me, ha!

In the new holiday catalog, there is a cute project that is similar to the one I'm sharing today. I loved the idea of making a framed piece. So I took inspiration from Stampin' Up!'s project and put my own spin on it. A few of the fun new things on this project are the Tin Tile embossing folder, Galvanized metal paper and that gorgeous Frosted Floral paper. This floral paper is fantastic! Of course I love all floral papers but all of the papers in this pack are so shimmery.

As soon as I saw this paper, I knew I wanted to use it to make a home decor piece. I've had a frame in my living room empty for months because I wasn't sure what photo I was going to put in there. But then I had the idea to use this frame for my home decor project I wanted to make. One of the floral papers in the pack was the perfect accent to greenish/grayish color on my living room walls.

The rest of the project was based off of the colors in the paper. The letters were done in Soft Sea Foam and the Stitched Label behind it is with Mint Macaroon. After I stamped and die cut the letters, I felt that it needed more. Then I came across the Ribbon of Courage stamp set and I stamped "Live", "Laugh" and "every day" from one of the images in versamark and embossed with white powder.

Once it was complete, I added it to the cute frame that has been sitting empty. Sorry for the darkish photo. I had the hardest time taking a picture of it on the wall. The lighting was not very good in that area of my living room. You will also notice the other frames that are lacking photos, haha! I'm working on those.

Interested in making one of your own? Contact me to get a copy of the new Holiday catalog coming out in September and I will help you order your products and show you step by step how to make your own wall art.

Have a great day!

Just Add Ink #420 - Rainbow Balloon

Hello! Happy Monday! We had a hot weekend here in the north east and some more hot weather is expected the next few days. We did a bunch of swimming as well as cooling off inside in the AC. So I was able to have a few minutes to play in this week's Just Add Ink challenge. Once I saw the challenge, I had to play. I couldn't resist the rainbow of colors and coming up with a card for that.

I had gotten some new Blends last week and I decided to use some of those for the challenge. First I grabbed a bunch of markers in a rainbow of colors: Lovely Lipstick, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Highland Heather and Flirty Flamingo. I used these colors to color on Shimmer White card stock.

Then I took the Up & Away thinlits to cut up the rainbow I colored. I took those pieces and glued them behind the detailed hot air balloon. It came out so cool right!? I also cut a few clouds from shimmer white card stock to add to the Pool Party base. I used the new subtle embossing folder on that to give it some extra texture. I was also able to finally use the Gorgeous Grape mini striped ribbon. I love the color of this ribbon and I've been dying to use it, it just hasn't matched any of my recent cards. I think it pairs well with the rainbow of colors today. And my final touch was some of the new basic adhesive-backed sequins. These are so easy to use on cards. Just peel and stick!

I hope this rainbow card brightened up your day! Thanks for stopping by.

A Little Wild Baby Shower Card

Hello!
It's been quite a while since I've been able to update my blog. This summer has been busy busy. And I've also had minimal time to get any crafting done and I've had a lack of motivation to do anything. But I've been plugging away in my craft room, so I'm hoping to have more to share with you in the future.

Today's card is one that I did for a friend's baby shower this past weekend. I love how it came out. It also got me back into my groove. I just needed a little coloring to get me going. :) I took inspiration from the invitation. Those baby animals were so cute and I knew I had stamps that could replicate this. I used the Animal Outing and A Little Wild stamp sets. I colored these guys in with my Blends. (FAVORITE markers ever!!) If you have not used these markers yet, you must. They make coloring so smooth and blend so well. I like to do my coloring on shimmer card stock. It's a little thicker plus who doesn't love a little extra shimmer!

After I colored them, I used their coordinating die cuts to cut them out. I also stamped and cut out some leaves from the Animal Outing bundle. The background of the card is more shimmer white card stock that was painted with my aqua painter and Balmy Blue ink. The sentiment is from Special Celebrations, stamped in Night of Navy ink and glued to the front of  Night of Navy card stock. I also added some polka dot tulle ribbon under the sentiment because I just love this ribbon and want to add it to every card! :) The final touch was sequins because again, I love them too. I am glad I was able to have this card match the invitations as well as the theme of her shower.

Is that something you guys have ever tried doing. Matching cards to the invitations you get?? I try to do this as much as I can. Well thanks for stopping by and I will try my hardest to post something again soon!!

Abstract Impressions Thank You cards

Happy Wednesday! I have some fun cheery and colorful cards for you today. So far the Abstract Impressions stamp set is one of my favorites from the new catalog. I used the set to make my own background paper for these thank you cards.

How pretty is this background paper I made!

I started with a piece of Shimmery white paper. Next I stamped fullest flower stamp in Petal Pink, then I stamped the next image in Grapefruit Grove and then the final image was stamped in Flirty Flamingo. The leaves were stamped in Lemon Lime Twist first and then Granny Apple Green. Then I filled in the white space with another flower image stamped in Pool Party.

I cut the paper in half since I was making 2 cards. To the front I cut out a stitched shape and scallop circle from Petal Pink. Behind that is one of the dies from Springtime Impressions Thinlits cut with Soft Sea Foam card stock.

I stamped the sentiment on Shimmer White card stock and then cut a strip of Wood Textures DSP and some Whisper White Polka dot tulle ribbon. The finishing touches were some sequins and linen thread.

I went a step further and stamped one of the flowers on the envelope as well. This simple step really takes the card to the next level I think.

Since I loved how this came out, I decided to try this out in another color combo - Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Rich Razzleberry.

Now I don't know which color combo is my favorite! What is yours?? I think I need to try this is some other options like pinks, yellows or blues!

Have you played with this new set yet?? I would love to see what you're doing with it!

Have a nice day!

Just Add Ink #413 - Color Challenge

Hello and Happy Hot Monday! It's a scorcher here on the East Coast. It looks like it will be pushing close to 100 today. So that means time in the AC and the pool! I had created these cards over the weekend for the Just Add Ink challenge so I wanted to share them before the challenge is over. They have a color challenge this week. I really liked these colors together. Perfect for a hot summer day!

I used the Picture Perfect Birthday set to make 2 cards. These colors also worked great to allow me to use DSP from the new Brights 6x6 paper stack.

Both cards use the same layout but I just changed the colors around a bit. I did the same ombre effect on the sentiment that I did on the card I shared last week. I used all 4 of the colors and my sponge dauber to add the colors to the sentiment. I think it gives the sentiment a fun look. The sentiment was stamped on Shimmer Paper for that extra shine and die cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits.

Next to the sentiment I added an assortment of ribbons. I used the new Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle ribbon, along with Lemon Lime Twist Ombre ribbon, Silver Mini Sequin Trim and Basic Black Baker's twine. The polka dot ribbon wasn't on my original list of items to get from the catalog but I've seen it used on a lot of cards and it's just so cute! I mean it's white polka dot ribbon that can go on ANY card!

Behind the square shape I added some gold metallic thread. Then the final touches on each of the cards were the Glitter Enamel shapes on the Pacific Point card and silver sequins on the Granny Apple Green card.

I hope you enjoyed today's cards and make sure to try out this color challenge. It's a fun one!

Stay cool!

Global Design Project # 142 - Stitched All Around

Hello! I have a quick Friday post for you. I have been able to get crafty a little bit with some new goodies so I have some stuff to share for the next few days! Yippee!! Today's card is for the Global Design Project Challenge #142. Since it's been so long since I've done cards, I'm doing a bunch of challenges to get back into the swing of things. This challenge was a sketch challenge. Check it out here.

Here is my card for the challenge. LOTS of new goodies used!!

The first thing I had to use out of all the new stuff was this Gorgeous Grape paper!! Purple is my favorite color and I've been dying for a bright purple like this!! I will try not to go too crazy and use purple all the time! :) I also used the new Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. This paper is so fun too. I only got the Brights collection for now, but I can see where I'm going to need to get the rest of the color collections.

The fun stamp on the Gorgeous Grape cardstock is from the Gallery Grunge stamp set. I can see that this will probably be a well used set. And can we talk about that die cut where I stamped the sentiment?? Is that not the pretties label die ever!!! Something else I will probably be using a lot of!! I stamped one of the sentiments from Stitched All Around using Lovely Lipstick and Coastal Cabana ink to make an ombre look. I like how the Lovely Lipstick and Coastal Cabana ink blended in the middle to make a little purple color.

Last but not least, I added some of the new Glitter Enamel shapes and some sequins.

I hope you enjoyed today's card!! Stop back soon as I have another 2 cards to share.

Have a great day!

Global Design Project #140 - CASE the Designer

Well long time no see. :) Life has certainly been getting in the way of crafting lately. So many products from the new catalog are coming out and old products are being retired and I've had no time to play with anything!! One thing I did do recently was clean up my craft area and move out the old retired colors and update my papers and inks for the new colors. I haven't gotten them yet but I can't wait to play with the new items. I did have a few minutes today where I could get crafty. Since I had no idea what I wanted to do, I went to look up some challenges to play with. So I decided to do the Global Design Project challenge this week. This week's challenge is CASE the Designer.

The challenge is to CASE the card below designed by Brian King.

Brian did such a great job of keeping this card pretty but simple. I have a hard time doing that most times, haha! But I did my best this week to keep it as simple as I could.

I finally played with the Waterfront stamp set. I've had this set forever and it's the first time it's seen ink. It is so fun to play with!! Aren't those little houses just so cute! I also brought out Coastal Cabana which was one of my favorite colors. I am so glad this color is coming back! This card uses lots of bright and fun colors: Coastal Cabana, Lemon Lime Twist, Grapefruit Grove, Flirty Flamingo, Pineapple Punch and Bermuda Bay.

And since I couldn't not have any embellishments on this card, I added a few sequins. I think they add a cute little addition to the card. Don't you?

Have a great day!

Thanks for stopping by!
