Welcome Baby Card - From the Garden

Hello! I have another baby card to share today. Lots of babies all around!! This card is for a friend of ours that just had a baby girl. She was 2.5 weeks early so I had to quickly get my card together! :) I had the From the Garden set on my desk waiting to be used so I decided to try it out for a baby card. I think it came out pretty cute. I love these little flowers from the set. I did color them with Blendabilities just because I still want to use what I bought but these could easily be colored with regular markers. The colors I used were Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi. The "welcome baby" is from the And Many More set. I thought the sweet as can be from the From the Garden set worked well too. I stamped both of those in Coastal Cabana. Then I added some Wild Wasabi twine and pearls to finish it off. I think this was a good use of this stamp set for something other than gardening/spring. I love the little dies from this set. I have plans to use these dies for my easter cards that I want to make for my son and niece. I have some cute ideas in my head so lets hope they translate to paper well. Do any of you have that problem too? You have all of these fun ideas in your head and when you execute them it just does not turn out how you want it to. I hate when that happens. I go through all of the work to put a card, 3-d object together and it just doesn't look right. Well wish me luck in that my easter cards come out cute so I can post them here! Oh and also wish me luck that I have time to work on them! That seems to be my downfall too. And now we've decided to take on the project of painting our living room. So I feel like I should be spending my brief "free" time doing painting prep when I really want to craft. I hope to sneak some time in this weekend. Well I have to if I want to have Easter cards for next week!! Well I hope you liked today's card and stop back soon for some Easter eye candy!

Baby Shower Card - Twins

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing the baby shower card I made for my friend's shower a couple of weeks ago. She is expecting twins (a boy and girl) so I had to make sure I included that on the card. This card is a hybrid card which uses some elements from My Digital Studio. Side note: I was just informed that MDS will be discontinued after May 31, 2015. While I understand that this was not as profitable, I am sad about it. I used MDS quite a bit to print out images that I didn't have stamps for. Plus I was able to make them any size that I wanted. The little shoes were printed from MDS as well as the sentiment. The Congratulations is from the "And Many More" set. I colored the shoes in with Blendabilities. Sigh, Another side note: These are discontinued as well. There were some manufacturing and quality issues that Stampin' Up! was not able to resolve so they have discontinued this line. I think this one hurts the most. I JUST bought a bunch of these markers and I love the way they color images. I guess I will just have to go back to the old markers or start using my colored pencils again. Anyway, after I colored the shoes I cut them out and added dazzling diamonds to the girl shoes (so cute!). I used the Birthday Bash DSP along with Bermuda Bay cardstock. I wanted to make sure it wasn't too girly or too boyish. And the finishing touches were Calypso Coral chevron ribbon and Bermuda Bay sequin trim. I told you I was going to use these sequins on everything!!! :) I think this card is super cute and I hope my friend liked it!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope to be back later this week with my projects and hostess gift for a workshop this week.

Indescribable Flowers - Wedding Card

Happy Monday! Today I have a card to share with you that I made for a wedding we went to over the weekend. It was nice to get out for the evening without the kids and have a delicious meal. However, I was so tired on Sunday. Staying out late with young ones just does not work anymore! And I was even tired before the wedding considering that the kids were up at 4:30 am on Saturday morning!!!!!! I was able to get a nap in before the wedding but still, I needed way more sleep. I do not understand why my kids do not realize that Mommy LOVES her sleep and needs it to function. But that is a whole other topic that I could complain about all day long, haha! You came here for pretty cards so let's talk about pretty cards instead. I used the invitation as inspiration for my card. I always like to try to match the card to the invitation or theme (if there is one). My first thought when I saw those flowers on the invitation is that I wanted to use the Indescribable Gift set with the Blendabilities. (Note: Blendabilities are currently unavailable at this time due to a manufacturer quality issue). I used the Rich Razzleberry blendies for these flowers but you could easily use the Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Up markers too. I also embossed the flower image with gold ink and clear embossing powder. Everything embossed looks so much nicer, plus it helps with the coloring so your ink doesn't bleed. The sentiment is also embossed. I added 2 pearls, colored with the blendies, to the Label Framelit. I added some Champagne glimmer punched banners for a little extra sparkle. And of course I had to add some gold sequins in there. I can't do a card now without sequins! I need to make a card for a baby shower this weekend and I'm already thinking about how I can add sequins to it, haha!! It's like an addiction at this point! Well stop back later on this week for more inspiration. I have a card that I haven't posted yet and I will have a baby shower card to share at some point in the next week.

Hey Valentine treats

Hello! I am glad that I am able to share with you my son's valentine's day treats for his class. Please excuse the less than stellar photos. My photo taking time is limited to morning or night and neither of those are good options since there is no daylight. I need to get my photo tent sent up in the craft room but that has been low on the list of things to do around the house. I think I need to bump it up since these pictures are not that great. But you still get to see the project. I fell in love with the fish from this set and knew that I wanted to use it for valentine's treats. Instead the treat bags are packages of gold fish. Obviously I was way more excited about doing these than my son was but I figured it's the first time he gets to do valentine's in school so I wanted to do something cute while his class was still small and he didn't have much say, haha!! I did want him to participate a little bit so I had him color the Lost Lagoon pieces with some crayons. Those pieces have his name on it. So you lift up the white circle to see who it's from. I used the same colors for the fish that I did in my last post. I didn't put too much effort into coloring them since I know the kids won't care too much. The coloring was more fun for me! Once I had everything colored and cut out I just stapled everything to the bags and that was it! I just wanted to keep things fairly simple since the kids are just going to tear into the bags for the goldfish anyway. But I still had fun putting these together and I think my son enjoyed some coloring too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey Valentine

Happy Tuesday! I wanted to get this card posted before Valentine's day. Even though you can definitely use this stamp set for birthdays and other cards, just don't stamp the sentiment. As soon as I saw this set in the catalog, I had to have it, I thought it was so cute!! I think the fish are my favorite from the set. I am also using these fish for my son's valentine's for his class. I hope I can get them posted before Valentine's day.
On to the card. For the background, I stamped the handcarved stamp on watercolor paper and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then used my aqua painter and several blue colors to get the ombre look. It was a fun technique to do. I then stamped the fish and colored them in with the Blendabilities. LOVE these markers! They make coloring so much more fun! I used the starburst framelit to cut out the fish and I left off the sentiment because I wanted to have it pop on colored cardstock. The yellow behind the fish are 2 Daffodil Delight Deco label framelits. I just adhered everything together with the cool little stapler from the Occasions catalog. I then stamped the Hey Valentine sentiment on Calypso Coral cardstock and used the banner punch for the ends. The finishing touch was Bermuda Bay sequins. I think every card needs sequins!! :)

Have a great day!

January Paper Pumpkin

Happy New Year! I cannot believe my last post was in November. I did have 1 or 2 Christmas cards that I wanted to share but obviously time got away from me. And who wants to see them now, I'm in a Valentine's and spring mode. Especially since we are about to get a WHOLE lot of snow here in the northeast. Luckily I finally got my craft area cleaned up so maybe I'll have some time tomorrow to work on a card. That is part of the reason for my silence on the blog too, amongst having 2 little ones to take care of. But my craft area was a complete disaster which made it hard to want to work on anything. But since I have all these fun new things to play with, I had to make it my mission to get it cleaned up. So it's clean but it could definitely use some organizing/getting rid of stuff but that is for another time! Since it's been clean, I've been able to make 3 cards in the past few days. What a difference it made. Let's hope it stays neat for a little bit. Now for today's card. I used this month's Paper Pumpkin kit to make a card. The kit includes things to make little valentine goodie bags. I may use the kit for some goodie bags but I knew I wasn't going to use all of the elements for the goodie bags so I wanted to make a card. I used the Hearts a Flutter framelits to make banners with the tags from the kit. The red and pink banners are also from the kit. I just cut them to make them a little smaller. The banner is hanging on the super cute pink and gold twine from the kit. I used the heart stamps from the kit and stamped them onto watercolor paper. I used my aqua painter to make them look like water color hearts. I couldn't figure out what pink was used in the kit so I ended up using Calypso Coral because I thought it kind of matched. But when I stamped it, it didn't seem to match quite like I had hoped but I still think it looks cute. The sentiment is stamped in Gold ink and then embossed. I thought it added a nice touch. I really love all of the elements in this kit. I hope to make some more cards or even the little bags with them.

I am trying out something new with the products that I used. Instead of writing out which ones I used, I am linking the actual products that I used. I think this will look much better than how I used to do it. I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by!
